This is the hands-on workshop for anyone looking to use comics in a classroom. Peter Carlson (Green Dot Public Schools), Susan Kirtley (Portland State University), and Antero Garcia (Stanford University) guide educators in curating powerful classroom curriculums, from mini-lessons to complete units, that incorporate the medium of comics. Participants engage in all new activities that model how to develop superhero readers and writers in K-12 classrooms.
A Limited number of tickets will be available for each P&T session. Tickets are handed out twice each day for the next few sessions. You must arrive in the first 15 minutes of your selected session to guarantee your spot. Any seats still available 15 minutes after a session starts will be given to walk-in’s.

Held in Limited Signing Line Up: AMC Networks is back at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel terrace with a new Anne Rice Immortal Universe activation and is offering the chance to experience to their activation for SDCC badge holders. As attendees tour the street, they'll enjoy a New Orleans-inspired immersive experience with several photo and video opportunities as well as collect exclusive souvenirs and limited-edition premiums. Fans can also expect some surprise-and-delight moments inspired by the universe, and costumes are encouraged.
The event is free for SDCC badge holders of all ages, and open Thursday, July 20, Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22 from 11am - 7pm. Daily admission is limited. Fans can follow @Immortal_AMC on Instagram or Twitter.
Due to the high demand for the AMC Immortal Universe activation line tickets the Autograph Area Limited Signing line drawing procedure will be used.
To participate in this drawing, please go to the indicated line and pick a ticket out of a container or push the button on the Box of Decision. The winning tickets will have a distinct stamp on the back, and the Box of Decision will light up green. Once a winner has been determined, they will immediately receive a wristband that will admit the wearer to AMC's Immortal Universe activation (Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter 401 K St, San Diego, CA 92101, across the street from the Convention Center) at the specified day and time on the wristband. If you do not draw a winning ticket or the Box of Decision lights up red, you may return to the end of the line to try again until all the wristbands have been given out. One wristband per person, per day.
Prior to the start of the ticket drawings, an area will be designated for those who wish to wait for the drawings to begin. You may line up for that day's drawings each morning as soon as you enter the building. If you already have your Comic-Con 2023 badge and arrive at the Convention Center prior to 6:30 AM, line up in the "Badged Member Line" starting outside Hall H in Plaza Park, indicated by a blue flag. You will be allowed access to the Upper Level when the line is released. Held in Ticket Drawing: AMC Networks is back at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Hotel terrace with a new Anne Rice Immortal Universe activation and is offering the chance to experience to their activation for SDCC badge holders. As attendees tour the street, they'll enjoy a New Orleans-inspired immersive experience with several photo and video opportunities as well as collect exclusive souvenirs and limited-edition premiums. Organized tournaments will be run five times a day utilizing the PC gaming stations inside the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. In addition to competitive games like Fortnite, Rocket League, Brawlhalla, Call of Duty and Apex Legends, attendees can sit down and play any games on Xbox GamePass. This panel brings together the curators of the exhibition American Alternative Comics, 1980-2000: Raw, Weirdo, and Beyond, held in 2022 at the McMullen Museum of Art. The exhibition included over 150 pieces of original comic art, plus many publications and ephemera, by 37 contributors to one or both of these magazines as well as such artists as Los Bros Hernandez and Kyle Baker, who participated in the development of alternative comics during the period. Andrei Molotiu (Indiana University Bloomington) focuses on the exhibit’s incorporation of Raw magazine’s avant-garde art strategies. John McCoy (McMullen Museum of Art) focuses on Weirdo magazine’s championing of women cartoonists, particularly during Aline Kominsky-Crumb’s editorship. Molotiu and McCoy will then conduct a virtual walkthrough of the exhibition.
